Movie Review - The Admiral: Roaring Currents

Posted in  Edit

"The film mainly follows the famous 1597 Battle of Myeongryang during the Japanese invasion of Korea (1592-1598), where the iconic Joseon admiral Yi Sun-sin managed to destroy a total of 133 Japanese warships with only 13 ships remaining in his command. The battle, which took place in the Myeongryang Strait off the southwest coast of the Korean Peninsula, is considered one of the greatest victories of Yi." (IMDB)

I watched this cause there hype about how good this movie was. Lucky me it live up the hype. Choi Min-Sik never failed me, he gave great performance as patriotic soldier. I don't know how this movie without Min-Sik, it's like one man show from me. This movie tells about depression, loyalty, courage and hope. My favorite scene is a long shot scene when battle at the boat, the camera moved from one side to another while the soldier keep the battle on. Don't forget the beautiful scenery of Korean island will appear here too. So, if you like war movie, fans of Choi Min-Sik or maybe just regular audience who seek good movie don't dare to miss this movies. Despite there claim that this movie isn't same with the actual story it never change the fact that it is a good film.
