PRO WRESTLING REVIEW - NJPW INVASION ATTACK 2015

Posted in ,   with  No comments     Edit

Invasion attack is PPV under New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) promotion. It was third times this PPV name being use. Took place on April 5, 2015, in Tokyo at Ryōgoku Kokugikan like other PPV under NJWP before it always promise something.

Jushin Thunder Liger, Manabu Nakanishi, Ryusuke Taguchi, Sho Tanaka and Tiger Mask VS Alex Shelley, Captain New Japan, Kushida, Yohei Komatsu and Yuji Nagata
Ten-man tag team match, yeah it's that many. Nagata and Nakanishi start the match for both team. Nakanishi got upper hand over Nagata but Nagata could got Armbar and tried to made Nakanishi give up, Taguchi saved him and he got kick to bt Nagata. Kushida and Tiger Mask entered the ring and gave a good match. The match gotten fast pace involved Thunder Liger, Taguchi, Captain New Japan, Tanaka and Komatsu they have comedy too to enternain the match. The match started to brawl between all player, which is sign to the end of the match. Shelly won the match after applied his finishing move to Tanaka.

Winner: Alex Shelley, Captain New Japan, Kushida, Yohei Komatsu and Yuji Nagata
Bullet Club (Cody Hall, Tama Tonga and Yujiro Takahashi) (with Mao) VS Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima and Tomoaki Honma

Bullet Club attacked their opponents soon after they enter the ring but Honma could clear the ring with his headbutt. Honma and headbutt always at one sentence. Tenzan and Takahashi got their turn in ring, with Tenzen dominated his opponent. Bullet Club had the momentum after Hall and Tonga intervening with the match. What I like about Japan Pro Wrestling is their theatrical and entertainment part, and it shown when Kojima and Takahashi fight. Honma won after hit diving headbutt to Hall, again in one sentence. By the way, Takahashi valet's Mao is so hot and she just wearing underwear when came to the ring.

Winner: Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima and Tomoaki Honma

Roppongi Vice (Baretta and Rocky Romero) VS The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) (c) [IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship]

After Koslov left NJPW, Romero made new team with Baretta. Match start with Baretta and Nick, like tag team match involved Young Bucks it was fast match with both team perform nice technical moves. At middle of the match Young Bucks called the match off and tried to left the ring, but when Roppongi Vice chased them, they gave them Superkick and run back to the ring. Roppongi Vice back before 10 count. The defending champion dominated most of the match, it's good to saw them taunting the opponent. It's very entertaining match many taunting and slapstick incident happened, also it's good to saw Romero got a lot time to shown what he got. Roppongi Vice won after executed a double move on Matt. Once again very entertaining match.

Winner: Roppongi Vice (Baretta and Rocky Romero) [New Champion]

Máscara Dorada (with Alex Shelley, Bushi, Jushin Thunder Liger, Kushida, Ryusuke Taguchi and Tiger Mask) VS Kenny Omega (c) [IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship]

First time saw Mascara Dorada in the ring. Like other Lucha wrestler he use speed and rope as assistance and Omega just being himself, who full of himself. The match was in fast mode, both wrestlers running inside and outside the ring and perform quick moves. There's great move from Dorada when he hurricanrana Omega to outside. Both wrestlers didn't got real control against their opponent, each move could be opening to other counter. Omega got the win after could steal Katayoku no Tenshi / One-Winged Angel. After the match Omega made a promo to provooked Shelley.

Winner: Kenny Omega

The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Michael Bennett) (with Maria Kanellis) vs Bullet Club (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) (c) [IWGP Tag Team Championship]

During the match, Anderson looked to flirting with Maria (I will too if I'm there). Bullet Club dominated match with the power of Gallows. Kingdom near got the match after perform twist of fate - swanton bomb combo. Taven also shown his skill with his agile moves. Maria distracted Anderson when he tried to finish Bennett and that cost him the championship. The kingdom won after did double team on Anderson. It's didn't good but doesn't mean it bad just average match. For me, Kingdom didn't offer something new for this match and Bullet club had lack of pace something that Anderson didn't usually do. They could do better.

Winner: The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Michael Bennett) [New Champion]

Hirooki Goto, Tetsuya Naito and Togi Makabe VS Chaos (Shinsuke Nakamura, Tomohiro Ishii and Yoshi-Hashi)

Time for the big name match. There's two feud for this match, Goto-Nakamura and Makabe-Ishii. Start with Goto-Nakamura, match going brutal when Makabe-Ishii enter the ring. Solid match from the start, Goto, Makabe, Nakamura and Ishii gave their best for the match. Chemistry between Goto and Nakamura so good we can expect more when they fight for Intercontinental Belt at Wrestling Dontaku. It's little sorry for Naito and Yoshi-Hashi cause they looked like fodder for the other. Great match for a prologue, best match so far.

Winner: Hirooki Goto, Tetsuya Naito and Togi Makabe

Hiroshi Tanahashi and Katsuyori Shibata VS Kazushi Sakuraba and Toru Yano

Hide and seek match between Tanahashi and Yano, they had story before. Full technical match for Shibata and Sakuraba, it will ignite feud between them. Not a traditional pro wrestling match, it focus between Shibata-Sakuraba new rivalry which is became a good match. Sakuraba looked badass with his no mercy attitude, even when he was punched by Tanahashi while he choke Shibata he didn't looked affected. Kimura lock was the winning move for Sakuraba.

Winner: Kazushi Sakuraba and Toru Yano

Bad Luck Fale (with Tama Tonga) VS Kazuchika Okada (with Gedo)

The Feud begin after Okada lost again Tanahashi in Wrestling Kingdom 9. Fale power dominated most of the match. Okada shown that he is a top card performer, after got beating in earlier match he turn the table and slam Fale several times. Even the match goes slow but it was a good match, the match will bring Okada in next level. His proofed that he still have something to offer after his defeat in WK9 and his tombstone is better than recently WWE tombstone.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada

Kota Ibushi VS A.J. Styles (c) (with Kenny Omega) [IWGP Heavyweight Championship]

After his winning in New Japan Cup 2015 which lead him to challenge any title that he want, Ibushi got his first IWGP Heavyweight Championship title shot. Despite his unsuccessful attempt at Intercontinental belt his still aim high. Technical battle between two of them, various pin variation was performed in earlier match. AJ used his experience to tear Ibushi leg and to stop his momentum. Ibushi again shown himself a real contender for major title, we gonna see more from this young man this year. AJ won after catch Ibushi while he perform Phoenix Spalsh and turn it to Style Clash.

Winner: A.J. Styles

After the celebration, Okada came to the ring and delivered Rainmaker to AJ. He stated that he want a title shot. Good move from Okada after his winning feud again Fale, he immediately jump to challenge the best. It also interesting how they will bring Ibushi move up, after his successful run in Japan Cup and made him a loser here. Maybe will see Okada and Ibushi for the gold in the future, two young talented wrestlers got a time to shine.

This event are not good as Wrestling Kingdom but still a entertaining show. NWJP really make a point about pro wrestling, maybe many audience didn't know the language but when they taking action in the ring it tell more than talk.

8.0/10 for the night
